The tension controller is for controlling the tension of a tape stretching between a feeding reel and a head drum by using a piezoelectric actuator. The tension controller includes a reel sensor (15) for detecting rotating speed of a feeding reel, a transducer (16) for converting frequency generated by the reel sensor into a voltage level, a multiplier (17) for multiplying output signal of an actuator and the transducer, a comparator (18) for comparing output signal of the multiplier to a reference voltage, an piezoelectric actuator (20) for generating control signal according to output signal of the comparator, and a lever (21) for controlling rotating speed of a feeding reel according to the control signal generated by the actuator.
