PURPOSE:To prepare a polymer matrix which can control the decomposition of a biocompatible polymer by dispersing a substance which accelerates the hydrolysis of the ester linkages of a polyester therein. CONSTITUTION:A physiologically acceptable amt. of an org. basic substance which accelerates the hydrolysis of the ester linkages of a biocompatible polyester is dispersed in the polyester to give a polymer matrix. Org. basic substances which can give the polyester a desired decomposition rate are selected to be dispersed and used in such an amt. as to decompose the polyester at the desired rate. Examples of the substance are cinnarizine, thioridazine, indenolol, and clonidine. |
