PURPOSE:To prevent reverse transfer of dye so as to form an excellent color image even by a regenerating thermal transfer recording medium by rapidly supplying dye to used thermal transfer recording medium, and so regenerating it that the quality of the image is not lowered to be repeatedly used many times. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer recording medium comprises a dye transport layer 1 made of dye and first medium, and a dye aggregate layer 2 made of dye and second medium. The first medium of the layer 1 has larger diffusion constant of the dye than that of the second medium of the layer 2, and the second medium of the layer 2 has larger saturated solubility of the dye than the medium of the layer 1. The thermal transfer recording medium is regenerated by bringing a dye supply layer of dye supplier into contact with the layer 1, and heating it to diffuse the dyes from the supply layer to the layer 1 and from the layer 1 to the layer 2 to be supplied. Particularly, as a method for preventing reverse transfer of the dye, reactive dispersive dye is used, and active hydrogen compound having a molecular weight of 100-1000 is contained in an image receiving layer of a material to be transferred. |
