PURPOSE:To call printing data from one of disks to smoothly conduct a printing operation by providing a means for shifting a power throw-in timing for every disk in a printer built-in two or more disk. CONSTITUTION:In a printer built-in main-and sub-disk drives 9, 10 of the same specification for driving disks holding an application software, font bit map data, and others in addition to printing data and connecting to a control circuit 2 through a disk control circuit 8, a self-diagnosing function of a time controlling is provided. In this invention, at the throw-in of the printer, firstly the power of the main-disk drive 9 is thrown in under the control of the disk control circuit 8. Next, after an elapse of a specified time (approximately 1 second), the power of the sub-disk drive 10 is thrown in under control. In this manner, timings for starting the self-diagnosing functions of the disk drives 9, 10 are shifted, and printing data can be positively read out from one of the disk drives. |
