<p>PURPOSE:To detect the abnormality of a mechanical part so as to aim at safe travel. CONSTITUTION:The lateral distribution of the output signals of a steering angle sensor or a torque sensor is calculated every fixed time (an hour, for instance), and at the unbalanced time, an assist control map is corrected in a step S26. The slippage of lateral distribution is thereby corrected appropriately. Accordingly, even in the case of abnormality being generated to the mechanical or sensor system of steering, assist force is changed in the direction of nullifying lateral unbalance so as to improve steering feelings and to heighten safety and operability. The alarm of abnormality is sent out in a step S28.</p> |
