PURPOSE:To provide a colorant desirable for thermal transfer and to provide a thermal transfer sheet containing this colorant. CONSTITUTION:An imidazole azo colorant represented by the formula wherein X is hydrogen, methyl or acylamino; Y is hydrogen or lower alkoxyl; and R<1> to R<3> are each hydrogen, or alkyl, cycloalkyl or allyl each of which may be substituted and a thermal transfer sheet having a colorant layer containing this colorant are provided. |
