PURPOSE:To obtain a conjugated polymer which is soluble in a solvent and can give an organic magnetic substance having excellent properties when oxidized, by reacting a specified metallocene with an organoalkali compound and reacting the product with a specified compound. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I wherein R<1> to R<10> are each H, halogen, a 1-10C hydrocarbon residue, NH2, CN, NO2, COOH or OH; and Me is a group IV-VIII transition metal element is reacted with an organoalkali compound, and the product is further reacted with a compound of formula II wherein R<11> is phenylene, thienylene, furylene, selenophenylene, tellurophenylene or quinolylene each of which has a 1-20C alkyl substituent; or a conjugated group comprising a combination thereof; R<12> is the above group free from the alkyl substituent; X and Y are each H or halogen; m >=1; and n=0 to obtain a polymer of formula III wherein R<1> to R<12>, Me, m and n are each as defined above; and L is an integer of 2 or greater. This polymer is soluble in a solvent and can give an organic magnetic substance having excellent properties when oxidized. |
