PRODUCTION OF SILICON NITRIDE-BASED SINTERED COMPACT

摘要

PURPOSE:To produce a dense sintered compact contg. SiC particles dispersed in the matrix of Si3N4 and excellent in strength at high temp. even by firing by pressureless sintering or sintering under the pressure of gas. CONSTITUTION:Powdery Si3N4 is mixed with powdery SiC having 0.6-2.5wt.% oxygen content and >=12m<2>/g specific surface area and a powdery sintering aid and the resulting mixture is fired. Since the SiC does not deteriorate the sinterability of the Si3N4, the objective dense sintered compact excellent in strength at high temp. can be produced even by firing by pressureless sintering or sintering under the pressure of gas.
