A plug-in control box to TV or radio (2-pole, 3-position rotary switch, non-shorting) is capable of providing sound from TV or radio speakers, earphones alone, or speakers and earphones together. In the speaker position, the sound level is adjusted for general surroundings. In the earphone position, the TV/radio speaker sound is omitted. If necessary, the earphone level can be further adjusted to suit the earphone listener. In speaker and earphone position, the TV/radio sound can be adjusted if necessary, and the earphone sound separately. These settings are for normal hearing. The big feature of this invention is provision for the hearing impaired. An amplifier, built into the control box, provides the mixture of TV/radio sound and ambient sound, through a plug-in microphone. Both sound levels can be adjusted separately, to suit the hearing impaired (i.e. ambient sound, phone, doorbell, conversations, etc.) When using plug-in earphones to TV/radio, the speakers are cut off. There is no external sound for those who wish to participate. The hearing impaired are completely cut off from the outside world. The purpose of this invention is to give the hearing impaired opportunity of enjoying TV/radio sound and ambient sound without disrupting other persons about.
