PURPOSE:To provide a neopentyl polyol ester, a combination of each specific two to three kinds of constituents, compatible with R134a as an alternative CFC, highly resistant to heat and hydrolysis, also having excellent lubricity, suitable as a refrigerating machine oil. CONSTITUTION:The objective neopentyl polyol ester with its ester component made up of (A) fatty acid residue composed of 5-90wt.% of a 10C neopentyl-type branched fatty acid of formula I (R1-R3 are each 1-6C alkyl) and (B) another kind of fatty acid residue composed of 95-10wt.% of 3-9C straight chain fatty acid residue and/or a branched fatty acid of formula II (R4 and R5 are each 1-6C alkyl). The neopentyl polyol is esp. pref. neopentyl glycol, trimethylolpropane or pentaerythritol. The neopentyl polyol ester is readily, industrially available as a feedstock, thus being advantageous. |
