PURPOSE:To improve control stability and steering feelings at the backward moving time of a vehicle and also improve the return performance of a steering wheel in the case of being steered at the backward moving time of the vehicle. CONSTITUTION:A power steering is provided with an assist force generating device M1 for generating assist force, and an assist force adjusting device M2 for adjusting assist force in the increase/decrease direction. When the backward motion of a vehicle is detected by a backward motion detecting device M3, an assist force correcting device M4 controls the assist force adjusting means in such a way that the assist force in the steering direction is lowered in comparison to the advance time and that the assist force in the return direction is heightened in comparison to the advance time. |
