PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition which can retain a good flameproofing effect even when processed or stored at high temperature by mixing a 1,2- diphenylethane derivative with an organic bromine compound. CONSTITUTION:The composition contains a 1,2-diphenylene derivative of the formula wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are each H or a 1-6 C hydrocarbon residue; R5 and R6 are each H or a 1-10 C hydrocarbon residue; and n and m are each 1-8 and an organic bromine compound. The above derivative of the formula wherein R1 to R4 are each of 7C or higher; R5 and R6 are each of 11C or higher; and n and m are each 9 or greater can hardly be produced. Examples of the hydrocarbon residues in R1 to R6 include alkyl groups, etc. Because the 1,2- diphenylethane derivative used in this composition is nonvolatile and is physiologically harmless, it can be used as a substitute for the conventional flame- retardant resins. |
