The following invention concerns a method and arrangement in combustion of fuel supplied to a furnace in the form of solid or liquid particles 1, which is formed for example, from waste liquors from the pulp industry, and whose organic content is partially burned as coke 2 on the bottom 3 of the furnace with oxygen-containing gas jets 4, which are generally arranged in horizontal rows, and partially higher up as coke in suspended particles, and as pyrolysis gases by means of vertical rows of oxygen- containing gas jets 5, which form powerful streams perpendicular to the rows or in other words produce good mixing in the horizontal plane, which facilitates combustion with lower local oxygen content, reducing discharge of NOx, but on the other hand, weak vertical gas flows, which provide a stronger concentration of combustion in the lower part of the furnace and thus higher temperatures and better combustion stability but less entrainment and carry-over of particles. <IMAGE> |
