A process is disclosed for activating the antennas of a radio emitter/receiver, in particular of the base station (FT) or the mobile part (PT) of a cordless telephone having a central processor (DECT-C), a device (RSSI-C) for measuring the field intensity of received signals and if required a threshold value generator (TH-G). In order to determine which emitter antenna is to be activated, for example at the base station, independently from a special information of the mobile part, the central processor (DECT-C) carries out process steps designed in such a way that the field intensities (RSSI1, RSSI2, RSSI3) of signals received during said time intervals (T1.2, T2.2, T3.2) over the antennas (A1, A2) activated during said time intervals (T1.2, T2.2, T3.2) are measured during successive receiving time intervals (T1.2, T2.2, T3.2). Depending on the field intensities (RSSI1, RSSI2) measured in the successive time intervals (T1.2, T2.2) for the emitting time interval (T2.1) and for the receiving time interval (T2.2) following the time interval (T1.2) during which the measurement is carried out, one among several antennas (A1, A2) is activated for sending signals and for receiving signals. |
