<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of useless abnormality warning at the beginning of document feed starting time by setting the set time of a timer according to the delivery number of documents in the case of generating an abnormality signal when the document does not reach a fixed position within the set time of the timer from the time of starting delivery. CONSTITUTION:A paper feed part 20 for feeding documents placed on a feed tray 11 in a document feeder 10 is provided with a pickup roller 21 brought into contact with the lowest document to deliver the lowest document, a feed roller 26 for separating only the lowest document in cooperation with a separating pad 27 to deliver the lowest document, and the like; and the delivered document is detected by a register sensor 30. In the case of the sensor 30 not detecting the arrival of the document within the set time of a timer after starting the delivery of the document, paper feeding abnormality is informed. In this case, the set time of the timer is set to the time T1 until the delivery of the specified number N of documents from the stacked documents and also to the time T2 (<T1) for the documents of N+1 onward so as to prevent the generation of useless abnormality warning especially at the beginning of document feed starting time.</p> |
