PURPOSE: To control the increase in the crystallinity of the dye in a dye layer and to improve the efficiency of dye transfer without deteriorating the stability of a dye donor material by incorporating a toluene sulfonamide-formaldehyde condensation product into the dye layer or a layer next to the dye layer. CONSTITUTION: A dye donor material to be used by thermal dye sublimation transfer has a dye layer laid on one side of a support, and the dye layer or a layer next to the dye layer contains a toluene sulfonamide-formaldehyde condensation product. The condensation product is preferably contained in the dye layer. Besides the toluene sulfonamide-formaldehyde condensation product, cellulose acetate butylate, polyvinyl butyral, and a poly(stylene-co- acrylonitrile) can be used as a polymer condensing agent. In this way, the efficiency of dye transfer can be improved. |
