<p>PURPOSE:To exert a symmetric rolling by giving compensation to it by allowing the roll deviate as it is when the rolls deviate to the axial direction and asymmetric rolling may occur. CONSTITUTION:Roll position detecting sensors 12C-22C are provided to detect the respective axial direction positions of work rolls 12,14, intermediate rolls 16, 18, backup rolls 20, 22 to detect the deviation in the axial direction of each roll. A lateral rolling reduction to compensate the deviation in the axial direction is obtained by an arithmetic unit 28 based on the detected value and a roll divergent difference to compensate the asymmetrical rolling is given to a rolling down device 24 on the operation side and a rolling down device 26 on the drive side and symmetric rolling is exerted as the rolls deviate in the axial direction.</p> |
