PURPOSE:To reduce the size and improve the durability of an ink jet recording head by providing a capping unit for detachably mounting an ink discharge port with an ink absorbing member therein to suck to clean the port and preventing drying of ink, and forming the absorbing member of inorganic porous material. CONSTITUTION:The ink jet recording head comprises a capping unit (a) for detachably mounting an ink discharge port with an ink absorbing member therein to suck to clean the port and preventing drying of ink. The absorbing member is formed of inorganic porous material 50 (e.g. porous Ni-felt), and inserted into a deep hole 7 in the unit (a). That is, since the absorbing member is formed of the porous material, ink permeability and retention amount are increased to decrease in size the capping unit. Further, since the absorbing member is formed of inorganic material, corrosion resistance to the ink is increased to improve its durability. |
