PURPOSE:To supply only a specific wavelength signal to an optional photodetecting device among plural photodetecting devices at the time of wavelength multiplex transmission by leading a passing received wavelength signal in a receiving optical fiber and synchronizing it with a selected received wavelength signal. CONSTITUTION:Plural wavelength signals lambda1-lambdan which are transmitted by plural optical fibers 2 are led in a wavelength selection cell 20. A voltage is applied to liquid crystal through two transparent electrodes 32 of a glass body 30 and so controlled as to pass only the desired received wavelength signal lambda1. Then only the received wavelength signal lambda1 selected among the wavelength signals lambda1-lambdan transmitted by the optical fibers 2 passes through the liquid crystal 21 and appears on the output side. The received wavelength signal lambda1 which is led in and appears at the output side is received not by all the photodetecting device 4 connected to the respective receiving optical fibers 3, but by only the photodetecting device (e.g. 4a) synchronized with the received wavelength signal lambda1 led in an optical fiber 3. |
