SEPARATOR FOR WOUND TYPE BATTERY

PURPOSE:To obtain a separator which is not broken at the time of blacing it on a sheet-shaped electrode and winding them together in spiral manner even in the case that the separator is made thinner so as to be suitable for reducing the size and increasing capacity of a battery. CONSTITUTION:The present invention is related to a sheet-shaped wound type battery separator suitably used for a nickel-hydrogen battery and an alkali second battery using a spiral electrode piece made of such nickel-cadmium. The separator 3 consists of non-woven cloth including fiber A having graft efficiency of more than 20% and fiber B having graft efficiency of less than 20% and having unit weight of less than 70g/m<2>. The fiber A includes at least polyethylene on it surface part, the fiber B includes polypropylene as its main component and a ratio of usage for both fibers is suitably in a range from of 1/9 to 9/1 in weigh ratio.
