<p>PURPOSE: To provide (n) pieces of error correcting systems by repetitively executing processing by utilizing (n-1) pieces of error correcting systems. CONSTITUTION: A syndrome correcting circuit 10 inputs (2n-1) pieces of syndromes S0 , S1 ,..., S2n-2 calculated by searching (n) pieces of error values and corrects the syndromes into (2n-2) pieces of new syndromes S0 ', S1 ',..., S2n-3 ' and an (n-1)-piece error correcting circuits 11 corrects (n-1) pieces of errors by processing the output of the circuit 10. Then an error value computing section 12 inputs the output signals e0 ', e1 ',..., en-2 ' of the circuit 11 and calculates actual error values. An adding circuit 13 outputs the final error value en-1 by adding the output signals e0 , e1 ,..., en-2 of the section 12 to the syndrome S0 . When an error occurs in the circuit 11, anα<k> -value generating circuit 15 repeats the above-mentioned processing until the correction of the (n-1) pieces errors is proved to be successful by increasing a factor k one by one.</p> |
