摘要 PURPOSE:To provide the sight line detecting device which can estimate a correct pupil circle irrespective of size of the pupil circle by correcting appropriately the estimated deviation quantity of the pupil circle by size of the pupil circle, in the case of estimating the pupil circle by using the least square method. CONSTITUTION:When an estimated deviation quantity ER of the pupil circle is derived by the least square method, the deviation quantity is corrected by using the pupil diameter rc. This corrected deviation quantity ER' is given by ER'=ER (arc+b), and for instance, when (a) and (b) are values of -0.05 and about 1.5, respectively, when the pupil diameter on an image sensor is 10 picture elements, a correction coefficient arc+b becomes just '1', and no correction is applied. When a photographer's eye approaches a camera or the pupil is opened, and the pupil diameter becomes large and rc=20, the correction coefficient becomes 0.5, and as for the deviation quantity ER, a correction is applied to the quantity of a half of an original value.
