PURPOSE:To provide the three-dimensional free curved surface design device which obtains a smooth curved surface passing points, which well express the features of the form of a three-dimensional object, in accordance with three- dimensional coordinate data of these points and adjusts the weight function or a formula expressing the curved surface to obtain curved surfaces which are different by properties while satisfying the condition that they pass points of data. CONSTITUTION:A digitizer 1 and a keyboard 2 for input of three-dimensional data, a computer 3 provided with first, second, and third means 3A, 3B, and 3C which plot a three-dimensional graph of a free curved surface by three- dimensional coordinate data and the weight function, a display device 4 on which the three-dimensional graph is displayed, and a printer 5 are provided, and the keyboard 2 and the computer 3 constitute a designating part which designates the operation formula itself of the weight function and an adjusting part which manually adjusts the coefficient of the weight function.
