<p>PURPOSE: To form image forming light with high contrast by following printing data. CONSTITUTION: A critical illumination modulator 106 is preferable to be a DMD chip including plural reflecting elements, that is active image mirrors. The respective image element mirrors 108 can individually designate an address in accordance with the respective data bits of the plural data bits which constitute printing data. When the data bits are in a first state, the image element mirrors 108 are controlled so as to permit incident light from a direction 120 to be reflected to a light receiving body along the direction 122. When the data bits are in the second state, the image element mirrors 108 reflect incident light from the direction 120 in the direction 124. Light reflected along the direction 124 does not pass through a projecting system including a projection lens 110 so that light proceeding along the direction 124 is not radiated on an image forming medium 112.</p> |
