PURPOSE:To reduce the light attenuated by a current blocking layer between an active layer and a metal film, increase the reflection angle of a light which is reflected and returns the active layer, improve the efficency of photon recycling, decrease sufficiently the oscillation threshold current, and reduce sufficiently the power consumption. CONSTITUTION:On the side surfaces of an active layer 3, current blocking layers 5, 6, 8 are formed in the direction of an optical resonator. On the side surfaces of the current blocking layers 5, 6, 8, trenches 10 are formed in the direction of the optical resonator. In the trenches 10, meal films 12 are buried which films reflect the light emitted from the active layer 3 via an insulating film 11 electrically separating the layer 3 from the current blocking layers 5, 6, 8. |
