摘要 PURPOSE:To avert the deterioration of a light absorber and to widen the wavelength margin for recording and reproducing by consisting the light absorption layer of the optical recording medium of metal and specifying the refractive index and attenuation coefft. at the wavelength of recording light respectively to prescribed values. CONSTITUTION:This optical recording medium is constituted by successively providing the light absorption layer, shape memory resin layer and reflection layer on a substrate. The light absorption layer consists of the metal and the refractive index n at the wavelength of the recording light is 2 to 5 and the attenuation coefft. 1 to 5. The optical recording medium is formed by using the metal having a good thermal conductivity as a heating element on the substrate and providing the shape memory resin thereon. The light absorption layer generates heat by absorbing a recording laser beam and transmits the heat to the shape memory resin. The shape memory resin layer expands as the layer is heated up by pulse light to the temp. above the glass transition temp. and below the m.p. The resin layer is, however, rapidly cooled, and therefore, the shape thereof is frozen and is fixed. On the other hand, the region wider than the recording part is irradiated with a laser of the same wavelength as the wavelength of the recording laser and is thereby heated up; thereafter, the region is slowly cooled in the case of erasing.
