PURPOSE:To reduce the loss of light and make a gradient index type flat plate microlens array which has unevenness hardly curve and peel even when the flat plate microlens array is stuck on a liquid crystal display panel and to increase the numerical aperture and make a display bright even when a color filter is provided. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the flat plate microlens array 1 becomes smooth because of the presence of a smooth film 4 and a scatter of light by the flat plate microlens array 1 is reduced. Further, an adhesive 3 is provided only at the peripheral edge part of the opposition part between a liquid crystal display panel 2 and the flat plate microlens array 1, so the influence of stress due to the difference in thermal expansion between the both is hardly exerted. Further, only the peripheral edge part of the liquid crystal display panel 2 needs to be irradiated with ultraviolet rays, so a part, such as a liquid crystal material, which is not resistive to the ultraviolet rays is not affected. Further, when the thickness of the smooth film 4 is increased, light passed through microlenses can be converged on pixels. |
