PURPOSE:To perform pitch flaw detection and full-scale flaw detection without a human operator and without tracks for the plate under inspection such as a thick steel plate in off-line by mounting a self-propelling flaw detector on the edge plate under inspection, and by only performing the initialization. CONSTITUTION:A flaw detector 18 is mounted on a self-propelling truck 10, whose direct advancing operation is controlled with an angular-velocity sensor 12 and an inclinometer 14. At the same time, plate-edge detecting sensor 22 and 22', which detect the edges of a plate under inspection 28, and flaw detecting sensors 20 and 20', which detect the surface defects and the internal defects of the plate under inspection 28, are mounted at the front and the rear of the self-propelling truck 10 one by one, respectively. |
