Sheet-metal cover strip - incorporating narrow longitudinal regions with lower strength and higher breaking strain than the rest of the strip

The sheet-metal cover strip (10) is characterised by the presence of a narrow region (12), which preferably runs in the longitudinal direction of the strip and is made of a material with lower strength and higher breaking strain than the adjacent regions (26,28) of the strip. There are at least three longitudinal narrow regions (12,14,16) with lower strength and higher breaking strain in the strip (10). Such regions consist of a nonmetallic material. Alternatively, the strip is made entirely of the same material, preferably aluminium, but within these regions it has a structure with lower strength and higher breaking strength. The cover strip is provided with transverse corrugations (for additional transverse bending stiffness), with the above-mentioned narrow longitudinal regions left flat. USE/ADVANTAGE - In building construction. The strip is easily manufacturable, and can be bent into required shapes without use of tools. The strip is stiff and can be lengthened with a similar strip simply by overlaying the other strip.
