The connector has at least one forked contact element (12) in a housing. This has two limbs (14, 16) with a slit (18) between them. It also has at least one U-shaped contact element (32, 34) in a second housing. The limbs (6, 38) of this element (32, 34) cut through the cable insulation and contact the conductor. The limbs (14, 16) of the forked contact (12) engage a limb of the U-shaped contact. The U-shaped contact and forked contact are at 90 deg. to each other. The free ends of the limbs (16a, 18a) of the forked contact (12) have, on the flat side away from the slit (40) of the U-shaped contact (32, 34), a surface (60, 62) adapted such that the limbs join at the free ends and a force component is provided in the direction of the U contact slit (40) when the forked contact limbs (14, 16) penetrate into the insulation of the cable in the slit (40). USE/ADVANTAGE - Allows good electric contact even with large diameter cables.
