The compressor has a fixed spiral passage in one block (21) formed by a spiral wall (23) and a similar passage in a moving block (41), which engages with it to form a compression chamber (39) between the walls. The moving block is driven in an eccentric fashion from a main shaft (33), held in a bearing (32) within the housing. The bearing is attached to a driving peg (34) with counterweight (35). This peg has a sliding engagement with a section (36) of the moving block. To prevent play, there is a pre-tensioned elastic retainer between peg and the peg follower. ADVANTAGE - Abrasion between fixed and moving blocks reduced by preventing unnecessary play between moving block and driving peg.
