This invention relates to an apparatus and a plug for blocking up the opening of a pipe at which a branch pipe branches from a main pipe during an operation for applying a tubular lining member to the inner surface of a pipe buried under the ground and other pipes, such as a gas pipe, a city water pipe or a sewage pipe, so as to repair or reinforce the pipe, and more particularly to an apparatus consisting of a working machine body movable in the interior of a pipe, and a base having a plurality of branch pipe opening-blocking plugs thereon and attached to the working machine body so that the base can be turned around the axis of the pipe and displaced in the radial direction thereof, and a plug used for this apparatus. The apparatus and plug enable such a blocking operation to be carried out very efficiently and simply.
