The correction system uses a filter supplied with the engine air intake signal, the filtered signal being compared with the original signal to allow the filter characteristic to be adjusted. Pref. the filter is supplied with a signal from a mass flowmeter (106) inserted in the engine air intake (102) and has a low-pass characteristic, its time constant switched between two different values dependent on the comparison between the filtered signal and the original signal. ADVANTAGE - Effective compensation of overrun in signal when engine load varies.
