When sediments are removed from natural and/or artificial waters in water-desludging, fine sludges which contain constituents in the particle size range of up to 0.063 mm and may be contaminated with pollutants, arise from the treatment process. This fine sludge can be used as raw material for the manufacture of ceramic products, in particular tiles, without the fine sludge having to be put into landfill.
