Producing sand cores - with gas for hardening the binder fed to moulding box as liq. and vaporised inside box

A predetermined volume of hardening liq. is fed to the moulding box or to a component of the box and vaporised by a heating device inside the box. The gas then flows through the moulding sand and hardens the binder. Reaction-free pressurised air is then blown through the box to remove any excess hardening gas. The hardening liquid is metered through a feeding channel (9,10) to the gassing plate (3). As it flows to the opening (14) which connects with the core box (2) it is heated and evaporated by electrical heating units (12,13). After hardening pressurised air is blown in via opening (16). The passage (11) travelled by the gas is zigzag and has vaporising ribs etc., to increase the vaporising efficiency. USE/ADVANTAGE - Producing sand cores. By vaporising the hardening liquid just prior to blowing through the core box, gas is not lost by condensation during transportation. Also the amt. of cleaning air required is reduced leading to cost savings.
