A plate-like contact member can be tilted relative to a pin or rod passing through an aperture in the plate for contact actuation. In Figs. 1 and 2 the plate 10 is held against a wider portion 7 of the pin 1 by a spring 9 retained by the pin head 8 and engages the abutment 15 which may be a fixed contact. When a button 4 is pressed to move the pin downward its movement is limited by the engagement of the portion 7 with part of the fixed frame 3 and the spring 9 tilts the plate about the abutment 15 so that it bridges contacts 15, 16, 17. The part of the plate 10 engaging the abutment 15 may be of insulating material. In Fig. 4, the plate 42 is urged by a spring 43 against a pressed-out portion 41 of the pin 40 so that the plate 42 normally engages contacts 48, 49.
