PURPOSE:To improve purifying efficiency of NOx catalyst, and also prevent hydrocarbon from being mixed in oil, by providing a reducing hydrocarbon adding means for adding, in an intake passage, reducing hydrocarbon in which hydrocarbon having carboy of 5 to 12 in number is formed as a main component. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst converter 10 in which a nitrogen oxide reflux reducing catalyst 9 is stored is provided in an exhaust manifold 7 for discharging exhaust gas from the combustion chamber 3 of a diesel engine 1 outward through an exhaust pipe 8. A reducing hydrocarbon adding means (M) for adding reducing hydrocarbon (HC) is connected to each intake manifold 5. The reducing hydrocarbon adding means (M) consists of a HC injector 17, an modified fuel tank 19, a fuel reforming means 21 for storing a light oil reforming catalyst 20, and a fuel tank 22. Hydrocarbon having carbon of 5 to 12 in number is added by the light oil reforming catalyst 20. It is thus possible to improve purifying efficiency of the NOx catalyst 9 sufficiently.
