PURPOSE: To improve pressure drop ratio of surface area to volume and heat exchange coefficient of catalyst granules used in a fixed bed reactor by forming the catalyst granules so as to have cross sections which are provided with prescribed number of through-bores having axes parallel to the axis of the granule and equidistant from each other and which have plural contacting points at circumscribed circumferences. CONSTITUTION: In the catalyst granule 10, three projected cross-sections are formed by circular projected parts 10a with diameter R which are joined to each other by vertical grooves 14 formed along flanks thereof. Bores 12 of diameter d1 are respectively formed in the three circular projected parts 10a. The bores 12 and the circular projected parts 10a are coaxial and form walls of thickness (s), axes of respective bores 12 are made to be parallel to each other and pitches (p) between respective bores 12 are set to be equal. Otherwise, a pellet, in which respective apexes of a regular triangle are made to be circular and three bores are formed, may be used. Further, ratio of bore pitch (p) to bore diameter d1 is set to be 1.15 to 1.5, ratio of garanule height to the pitch (p) is set to be 1.5 to 2.5 and ratio of radius of the bore 12 to bend radius of the projected part 10a is set to be 1.4 to 2.4. |
