Novel 2,2'-bis(dicyclopentylphosphino)-1,1'-binaphthyl represented by formula (I): <IMAGE> (I) and a transition metal complex using the same as a ligand, are disclosed. The transition metal complex is industrially excellent as a catalyst for various asymmetric synthesis reactions.
