NICKEL HYDROGEN CELL ASSEMBLY

PURPOSE:To lessen the shocks of external force and improve fire resistance and safety by the combined provision of a pressure resisting container containing a plurality of nickel hydrogen cells in a condition of being immersed in a high pressure water and a plurality of honeycomb partitions formed therein for receiving the nickel hydrogen cells in a plurality of partitioned parts of the container. CONSTITUTION:A pressure resisting container 2 has a resisting force sufficient to resist the gas pressure of a nickel hydrogen cell 1. A plurality of honeycomb partitions 3 are provided within a container body 2A. The container body 2A is provided at its opening with a lower flange 2a for attaching a sealing lid 2B thereto. The sealing lid 2B is provided with an upper flange 2b and an opening 2d for pouring therethrough a high pressure water in the pressure resisting container 2 and the flanges 2a and 2b are fastened together with bolts 8. A plurality of honeycomb partitions 3, each consisting of the thin metal plates made up into a honeycomb structure, divide the container 2 into a plurality of spaces 3a for receiving the nickel hydrogen cells 1. Therefore, when the pressure resisting container is subjected to external force, the layers of the high pressure water lessen the impacts resulting therefrom and reduce its effect on the nickel hydrogen battery.
