PURPOSE:To provide a thermal head driving method in which electrolytic corrosion is prevented without causing cost increase or complication of structure. CONSTITUTION:At the time of nonprinting, VP is not applied and pulses are fed sequentially at a predetermined period to an STB. Consequently, drivers D1-Dn are turned ON in synchronism with the pulses being fed to the STB and heating elements R1-RN are fed sequentially with instantaneous current. Plus charges at Au+ region in a head part l are thereby neutralized by minus charges of the current. Even if moisture (H2O) intrudes into a thermal paper S to ionize NaCl, into Na<+> and Cl<->, the Au<+> region is not shifted to the thermal paper S side nor the Cl<-> is transferred to the head part 1 and thereby no electrolytic corrosion take plate at the head part 1. Furthermore, current is fed only instantaneously to the heating elements R1-RN which are not thereby heated sufficient enough to develop color.
|
