PURPOSE:To ensure that phosphorus components are efficiently removed from sewage and rivers by soaking a coated product consisting of a material, based on iron, which is coated with a cement substance having a specific water permeability factor, in water containing phosphorus. CONSTITUTION:A coated product consisting of a material, based on iron, which is coated with a cement substance with a water permeability factor of 10<-2> to 10<-6> cm.sec-1, is soaked in water containing phosphorus of sewage, rivers or a sewage treatment plant aeration tank, and thus dephosporization process takes place. The shape of the coated product is not particularly defined, but is various, for example, such as plate, honeycomb or bar depending upon a place where the coated product is soaked. If phosphor in water chemically reacts with this coated product, phosphor becomes immobilized on the surface of the coated product as vivianite and hydoxy apatite. Therefore, the immobilized phosphorus is scraped off the coated product at any proper time and removed with sludge. The coated product now free from a reaction product can be soaked and recycled, if the water permeability factor remains within the described range.
