PURPOSE:To provide a recording medium capable of rapidly and accurately discriminating whether inherent fixed data to be recorded is forged by forming a repeating thermal printing recording layer reversibly changed in optical characteristics on an optically readable fixed recording layer. CONSTITUTION:A recording medium 1 is obtained by forming an optically readable fixed recording layer on a base material 2 and forming a repeating thermal printing recording layer 4 reversibely changed in optical characteristics on the recording layer 3. In a use method, for example, five bar codes 7-11 are preformed on the base material 2 as the fixed recording layer 3 and, subsequently, the parts of the thermal recording layer 4 on the bar codes 8, 10 are heated by a thermal head to be made opaque and only the bar codes 7, 9, 11 are made possible to read as data and stored as genuine data. Thereafter, the parts made opaque are again made transparent by the thermal head and the bar codes 5-11 are returned to a user in a seeable state. |
