PURPOSE:To provide nitrate and nitrite nitrogen removing equipment which is capable of efficiently achieving treatment in a short time and has small installation space. CONSTITUTION:A treatment tank is divided into the upper part and the lower part by a partition plate 15. One side is constituted of a nitrogen removing chamber 5 wherein granular filter medium stuck with microorganisms is packed. The other side is constituted of an organic substance removing chamber 11 wherein the granular filter medium stuck with microorganisms is packed. A connecting pipe 9 is provided and water to be treated is introduced from the nitrogen removing chamber 5 to the organic substance removing chamber 11 through the connecting pipe 9.
