PURPOSE:To obtain a detergent composition for a hard surface which is excel lent in the ability to remove oil smears and does not need prewashing by hand by incorporating as essential ingredients specific amounts of an alkali and a surfactant having a given HLB value. CONSTITUTION:The composition contains as essential ingredients 1-48wt.% alkali (e.g. caustic soda) and 1-10wt.% surfactant having an HLB of 1-12 (e.g. polyoxyethylene stearyl ether). It may further contain a maleic acid (anhydride) copolymer or a water-soluble salt thereof each represented by the formula (wherein R1, R2, R3, and R4 each is H, a 1-5C alkyl, a l-5C alkoxy, or carboxy; M is H, an alkali metal, or an alkanolamine; and n/m is 10/1 to 1/10) and having a weight-average mol.wt. of 1,000-100,000. It is possible with this composition to prevent the erosion of the drawings on the tableware to be cleaned and the deposition of a water-insoluble substance on the tableware, washing machine, etc. |
