The apparatus automatically machines the peripheral side edge of a sports shoe midsole to cut off the bottom side of the edge portion and cut out some portions from the top of the sole to produce recesses for placing air packs for cushioning. The apparatus executes its operation sectioned into the parts for: (100) supplying raw midsoles to be machined; (200) cutting off the peripheral side edge bottom portion of the midsole to a depth with a first robotic tool; (300) cutting out a portion from the top heel part to form a recess for placing an air pack; (400) cutting out a portion of the top of the sole corresponding to the ball of the foot to form a second recess for seating a second air pack in the sole. The cutting works are sequentially carried out with respective cutting tools.
