PURPOSE:To obtain an optical recording medium capable of high sensitivity recording and reproduction with laser beams and having satisfactory recording characteristics by interposing a transparent film having a refractive index between the refractive index of a transparent substrate and that of a recording layer between the transparent substrate and the recording layer. CONSTITUTION:When a recording layer and a reflecting layer are successively laminated on a transparent substrate to obtain an optical recording medium which performs recording and reproduction with laser beams, a transparent film having a refractive index (n) satisfying n0<n1<ns (where n0 is the refractive index of the transparent substrate and ns is that of the recording layer) is interposed between the transparent, substrate and the recording layer. The objective optical recording medium capable of high sensitivity recording and reproduction with laser beams and having satisfactory recording characteristics is obtd. |
