GRAY CODING METHOD FOR VECTOR QUANTIZATION TABLE

PURPOSE:To improve the anti-bit error performance by the gray coding for the vector quantization of an information source. CONSTITUTION:An evaluation function of an input vector is calculated for each reference vector stored in a vector quantization table (201). Then the exchange of code bit trains is repeated between the adjacent reference vectors until the change value DELTAG of the grosses G of correlative coefficients Rij caused by the exchange of code bit trains between the adjacent vectors is not positive (202). Then the vector quantization table is turned into a gray code.
