<p>PURPOSE:To suppress an information generating quantity by interleaving picture elements in a compared range so as to set the result of motion detection to a prescribed value or below thereby extending a motion detection range and enhancing the detection efficiency. CONSTITUTION:A block synchronizing signal and a clock signal are inputted from a terminal 11 and data in a retrieval range of a preceding frame are read from a frame buffer memory 12. Data of a prescribed block of a current frame inputted from a terminal 13 and data of a preceding frame are processed by a comparison computing element 14. A block of a minimum value among all blocks of 16X16 picture elements to be compared is detected by a minimum value selection circuit 15, a motion vector is obtained and outputted from a terminal 16 valid/invalid control of comparison arithmetic operation by the comparison computing element 14 is implemented based on a switching signal from a terminal 17. When 80X80 picture elements are set for the retrieval range, a picture element is made invalid at an interval of one picture element in horizontal and vertical directions to suppress data generated to 1/4 and a motion vector is ranged to + or -15.</p> |
