PURPOSE:To provide the optical fiber having good workability by improving the peeling resistance of the core-sheath boundary of the optical fiber consisting of quartz glass as its core and perfluoro-2, 2-dimethyl-1, 3-dioxol polymer as its sheath. CONSTITUTION:The adhesion strength of the core-sheath boundary of the optical fiber is improved by using a soln. prepd. by adding non-fluorinated silane at 0.005 to 10 pts.wt. ratio to 100 pts. polymer consisting of the perfluoro-2, 2- dimethyl-1, 3-dioxol as a main monomer. The quartz optical fiber is produced by using the non-fluorinated silane to a soln. for forming the sheath, by which the light transmission loss of the optical fiber is improved and further, the peeling resistance and fracture of the core-sheath boundary at the time of bending is prevented. |
